Call for Submission

The Kurdish Edition podcast would like to invite academics, intellectuals and artists whose works are related to the Kurdish society, culture, and politics in all four parts of Kurdistan and in Diaspora to submit proposals for an episode or a series of episodes for the podcast. Your submission should be no more than 700 words, or maximum two pages, in Microsoft Word or PDF format. Your proposed episode(s) can be hosted by yourself, co-hosted with another person, and/or have an interviewee. It should clearly describe the topic of your proposal, your schedule for producing it, and your co-producer/co-host or interviewee if there is one. In terms of the time limit of each episode, it could ideally be between 25 to 40 minutes but no longer than one hour.

After sending your submission, there will be a review process for each proposal.

Your proposed story must be well-researched, original, and speaking to both academic and non-academic listeners. In the next step, we will talk about the technical aspects of producing a podcast as many of you potential editors live in different corners of the world with different technical skills and equipment. You can send your proposal directly to myself at sardarsaadi (at) gmail.com

Beside the main podcast of the Kurdish edition, I am excited to inform you that there will be two more podcasts next year. The first one will be specifically around the Kurdish music and it will be in English. And for the second one, I am currently talking to some friends about initiating the Kurdish version of the Kurdish edition podcast. Therefore, this call for proposals is also for the music podcast and the Kurdish one. The name of these additional two podcasts will be decided later.

I am in the process of forming an editorial board for the podcast, so some of those who will produce and host an episode will be invited to join the editorial board of the podcast. It is important to mention that the Kurdish Edition podcast works solely on voluntary basis and at the moment, it does not receive any financial support of any kind from any bodies. In future, I may seek support from academic, cultural, and educational institutions to expand the podcast in terms of technical and logistical support, but again, the Kurdish Edition is a non-for-profit project.
